De Uithof

Hello again!

Today we made the journey to Utrecht and got to out lovely new apartment.
We took about one hour to get to the right platform in Amsterdam. The trains kept changing lines, it was very confusing, the station had some parts under construction which made the situation worse. In the end everything went well, we got the right train and got in Utrecht really fast (25 minutes). We took the bus from Utrecht Centraal to De Uithof. De Uithof is a campus near Utrecht that has the buildings of the University of Utrecht and Hogeschool of Utrecht (it's like the portuguese polithecnic). I haven't explored everything but it has a supermarket, several restaurants and cafes, a book shop, a huge library and students apartments. It's really big, the uni of Utrecht has 28000 students so you get the picture. My apartment is really cool I share it with my friends Susana and 5 others girls from Australia, USA, Slovakia and Hungary. They seemed really cool but we didn't have time to talk a lot with them because we were really wasted by exhaustion (of course it was exhaustion what else could it be?).

Dutch guys are hot. In fact, the Dutch people are very good looking. They are very tall and slim. I haven't seen a fat person yet, it must be because they ride their bicycle everywhere.

I'm sorry for the lame post but I really need to get some sleep.

Rock on! \m/

Day One

Hey everybody!

If you're reading this you probably know who I am so I won't introduce myself.. : P
So... I'm in The Netherlands now and it is way beyond my way beyond my expectations! But... the journey I had to do to come here was similar to hell itself. Maybe not that bad. But it was unlucky at least.
The first flight was delayed for almost two hours because it was really windy in Heathrow airport.. That was not too bad because we had more time to say goodbye to our families and yada yada yada. The flight was ok along most of the trip but then, about 30 minutes before the landing, the turbulence started.
Ok, I've felt turbulence once before but this time it was fucking scary. Really scary. In London, we waited a long time to get past security controls. We even had to take off our shoes!!! Anyway, I was truly amazed with that airport, it's unbelievably big even though I only passed through half of it. It took us one hour to get from the Terminal 1 (where we landed) to Terminal 4 (where the plane to Amsterdam took off)!

The flight was delayed. Ok. I could wait. I didn't want to. But ok.

The second flight was just as turbulent or more than the previous one. Ok... Now I say "I don't give a fuck, it brought me to Amsterdam" but it was seriously scary. Fucking airplanes.

We got to Amsterdam. I was electric. I love how methodic they are and how quickly we got through the airport to the train station without getting lost or lagged behind. In the way we found something called "Hotel bookings". It is like a kiosk in the middle of the corridor where you can find pictures and details about hotels in a screen and then call to the hotel and make reservations for free. That was very convenient and really clever in my opinion.

We got to Amsterdam Centraal in about 20 minutes and had to get to the Hotel. We took a taxi (that got fully loaded with us and our luggage) and payed 20€ for the ride. I felt mugged. But I didn't care, I was in Amsterdam!!! It's sooooo cool. When we walk down the street we can smell weed from time to time. There are not too many cars in the street because everybody rides a bike. There are huge parking lots just for bikes. It's crazy. Bikes have their own lan, their own traffic lights and sinalization. We had too look out for bikes passing or we could get involved in a violent cycling accident. And nobody wants that, it can get really ugly I guess.

The Hotel was cool, we had a cool view to the canal and the houseboats. We went out for dinner and for a walk in the town around 22h. Fucking frozen lasagna in a fucking suspicious/crappy restaurant.

The walk in the town. That's when I finally got aware I was in Amsterdam. The Red Light District was very close to the Hotel. I was stunned. Dutch people passed by the girls in the windows like portuguese girls pass by a shoe store. When they see something they like they stop, take a closer look and if they like what you see they go into the store. I was amazed. It didn't gross me out or anything like that maybe that's what's so amazing about it.Then we got in a small coffee shop in a corner of that same street. The waiter handed us the menu. They sold lots of different types of weed (15% discount if you buy 15g : P) and hash. We decided to buy a space brownie and a weed reefer. While we waited for the waiter to unwrap the celofane pellicule, which lasted for about 5 minutes (I wonder why...), he told us that space brownies are made from a butter of hash. He also told us to be patient because it takes about 1 hour to kick in. We asked about how did people react if you smoke outside a coffeeshop and he replied that it's ok as long as you don't go teasing cops. Ýou can even smoke in some restaurants if you ask for permission. It turned out to be a really good deal. I ate just a little bit of the cake so I can't put my word on that but the reefer lasted until today and it was quite efective if you know what I mean.

Well... I don't what to write a book so this chapter stops here : P

I'm not wrinting in portuguese because I found out that my english is really really rusty. I'm having trouble in transforming my thoughts in portuguese to English words but I guess that's normal. Hopefully I'll be speaking and writing more fluent english soon. By the way, if you - my dear dear readers - find a serious error in what I write please inform me.

Post comments (in portuguese if you prefer)!

You're all in here -> <3 : )
